Georgia Intrastate Motor Carrier
Georgia Intrastate Motor Carrier is required for Georgia motor carriers (anyone providing motor vehicle transportation for compensation) who operate motor vehicles between points within the state of Georgia (intrastate).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Submission of the following documents are required to complete the Georgia Intrastate Motor Carrier (GIMC) Registration:
 
  1. Completed Georgia Intrastate Motor Carrier (GIMC) Application Form;
     ~ For online registration & submittal: https:ucr.dor.ga.gov/ucrga/login.aspx


  2. Form E: Certificate of Liability Insurance (issued to applicant by insurance provider. Have your insurance company (not your agent) file evidence of public liability and property damage insurance; Form E) exactly the same name and address as shown on your application form)   
    ~ Form can be submitted to: commercial.vehicles@dor.ga.gov or via fax to: 404-724-7761


  3. Requirements below are submitted Once by United States Citizens & Annually by Non-Citizens:

  4. Completed, signed and notarized GSICA Affidavit (per OCGA 50-36-1);

  5. Copy of the front and back of a Secure and Verifiable Document (listing of acceptable Secure and Verifiable documents can be found online in code OCGA 50-36-2);

Georgia Intrastate Motor Carrier is required if you:
  • Transport passengers (for hire) and charge per vehicle, flat rate, or hourly (charter service) by means of one or more unmetered:
  1. Limousines
  2. Extended Limousines
  3. Sedans
  4. Extended Sedans
  5. Extended Limousines
  6. Extended Sport Utility Vehicles (No maximum or minimum vehicle capacity)
  7. OR
  8. Other vehicles with a capacity for transporting no more than 10 persons
  • Transport passengers (11 or more passengers, for hire) and charge per vehicle, flat rate, or hourly (charter service) by means other than vehicles listed above
  • Transport passengers (for hire) and charge per capita (per person)
  • Exclusively transport elderly or disabled passengers (10 or less passengers, for hire) in non-emergency vehicles
  • Transport passenger (for hire) by means of vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of more than 10,000 lbs
  • Transport household goods (for hire), between households within Georgia
  • Commercial moves of property from business to business within Georgia
  • Tow and store vehicles improperly parked or trespassing on private property and remove at the request of the property owner or authorized agent, without the prior consent of the vehicle's owner or operator
